brotherhood work day

During February 2008, Temple’s Brotherhood was reinvigorated and now enjoys a membership of twenty-three.  We "hit the ground running" adopting a model Constitution and By Laws provided by the Men of Reform Judaism; elected officers; assessed and collected 100% of our annual dues of $36/member; designed and purchased distinctive polo shirts featuring our logo; and erected a bulletin board. Our officers are Rob Goldsmith (President); Leon Minsky (VP for social activities); Jarrod Blumberg (VP for community activities); Leslie Kraut (VP for congregational activities); and Jack Blumenfeld (Secretary/Treasurer).  Our Mission is to serve the congregation and community, and have fun. Reflective of that Mission, Brotherhood provides ushers at a variety of Temple events, put together a work team for the Dothan Chamber of Commerce’s S.O.S. Community Services Project (we cleaned the Wiregrass Food Bank’s warehouse and packed up boxes of food), produced a community event with US Congressman Terry Everett, sponsored a trip to attend a Montgomery Biscuits baseball game, and cooked/served a formal dinner for a Temple family celebrating a bat mitzvah.

Brotherhood News

On Shabbat evening July 11, upon the occasion of Abbey Lewis's Bat Mitzvah, Brotherhood was pleased to prepare and serve a formal meal in our social hall for fifty friends and family of the Lewis family.

We need to thank the volunteers who achieved an awesome success: the cooks (Leon, Ed, and Harold, as well as Leon's out of town friends/family); our delivery guy (Stefan); as well as the Temple crew (Paul and Mathew, Daniel, Richard and Jarrod, Larry, Jack, and Jay).

Congratulations Abbey, for a job well done, and to your parents Mark and Lisa. Your congregation, your extended family, is very proud of what you accomplished.
